Week Three
Week 3
'Scene of the crime'
For the first part of this brief, we were sent into the Forensic Crime scene house on campus, who had set up multiple scenes in multiple rooms for us to draw. We were given free reign with how to record everything, only being told to use what we have learnt beforehand in past lessons.
I stayed in my comfort zone in the first two pages, enjoying drawing something very different and exciting. I used the frames I created in past lessons and practiced choosing smaller parts of a scene and experimenting with what I have got. I chose to be quick and loose in some, using continuous lines in others. However, I loved my last page I created, my confidence clearly had grown. Using pens and bold mark making to express the scene in front of me, also making notes of my thoughts as I was drawing. I also love my small uses of colour on this page, really creating a pop on the page.
Task 2
For the second task, we were asked to use the scenes from the first task and create a story based off of our imagination. We were told to use at least three images, and we should change the shape of the frames and materials for each. I decided to sketch some ideas up first using thumbnails, going through quite a few ideas before choosing the last line of the page, with a storyline hidden within the images.I chose to use pencil, biro pen, ink pen, ink and a stick, marker pens, charcoal stick and watered-down paint. I found thinking of the ideas for this task challenging, but overall, really like the finished piece. I love how detailed and bold parts of the image is, with the story not being entirely obvious, making any audience really think about what they're looking at.
