Week Two

 Week 2

Observational Drawing

For the first task, we were asked to draw the still life model. The instructions weren't specific and although I did consider drawing the full model, I decided to draw one section in detailed mark making instead, to lessen the load in short time. I'm really happy with how it turned out, especially with half an hour to create it. I would add a larger variety of mark making techniques however, if I were to change it.

After this, we used frames we created beforehand to draw certain sections of the model in 1–2-minute time spans. This was a fun exercise, although I would definitely add more colour and materials to the mix if I were to do it again.

In the end we were asked to create one final piece, of which I chose to do loosely and with a larger variety of mark making techniques. However, I feel I could have done much better had I sped up more and not focused so much on little details.

Out and about task

For this task, we were asked to wander around campus and choose different areas to practise what we had learnt in the morning. I chose to go to Verve (on campus cafe), the Catalyst Kitchen and just outside the Henrion building.

I really like how my first two pages came out, although I wish I had put a frame around each smaller drawing. The last page was incomplete, but I do like how it turned out. I chose to be very loose and experimental with colour and different marks, to catch the eyes attention and change the drawings.
